Hot Summer Bash Recap: As a whole, Davidson was ok for their first race with
very slow training times leading up to the race. We looked like a team that does not practice
pack running. Staying together and
running a race plan is the true mark of a great team and we did not show any of
this. We may have run
the first 700 meters too fast. The
middle of the race hurt to watch. Colin
and Garrett worked together and ran great races so we do know how to do this. We will improve both our fitness and our team
tactics as we move on. Every team has to
start somewhere and I guess a first race against teams who have raced is a good
motivator for us to improve.
It was nice to see the 9/10
team and the Open team finish as runner up to a very strong Trinity team. We learned a lot about the 5K this week and
the season is long. Next stop will be
the mega field Tiffin meet. If we get
into position and run as a team we should have a great day.
Looking Ahead: This week Davidson will be going into our
competition pattern. Workouts will be consistent from here
on. Your bodies will begin to adjust and
by Trinity we will be ready to go.
Outstanding Runners: Chris Egolf-9, Drew Sauvey-10, Isaac Getz-9, Paul Mendola-10, Adam

Tiffin Race
Plan:
Davidson will run a Varsity A and Varsity B. They are in different races along with an
Open race. This meet will have lots of
teams and will be very competitive. With
the number of runners getting off of the start line, Davidson will have to stay
connected. Burdette and Knapik stay together and run at the back of the lead group
about 10-12. Hoover, Whitney, McKeown and Schlecht will STAY together and be
patient. You will work to be in a group
about 30- to 40 at the 400 through 800.
I want a steady use of energy. Do
not panic in the first 800 to 1000, I would like to see 76-2:38, then 2:30
for a 5:04-5:08. The first mile is fast
anyways. Mile two will have the pack
working together supporting each other.
Mile two to the finish is about moving through the people and having a
great finish. We need our top two in the
top 7 with numbers 3-4-5 in the top 25 to 35 positions.
Varsity B is
about learning how to run a varsity race. A Hoover should run smart and
look for the top 25 by the 400 then go to work.
The rest of this team should keep their eyes on the Davidson runner
ahead.
