Coaches Update August 2, 2015
Hilliard Davidson Boys Cross Country August Preview
Summer Recap: Davidson had a great summer with solid fitness. Varsity camp saw the boys begin to learn how to be a team while biking became an important part of the training plan. Davidson has a great blend of runners and the varsity spots are wide open. Camp Hammer was all about the food and becoming good swimmers. As we enter August, Davidson is very fit and ready to blend their talents and move forward in our quest to reach the state championships. We are looking to have 14 runners ready for varsity competition who are hungry to improve and encourage their teammates along the way. What must we do now as the season starts? This question seems easy to answer but becomes very complex. First, we must find a convection to get to a good starting point by the preseason meet August 16th. Second, we must approach training days as days to get better. Third, we must monitor our progress and convert that fitness into great times. Fourth, we must work together in groups and push each other even when we are not 100%. Fifth, we must dream and plan about our vision. This season will fly by so each of you must look forward to each day and make the most of it. No team ever made a mark without planning and knowing what they wanted. The Reformation has started.
August Notes:
This team has great potential. The wood needs to be stacked and placed just right, as we light the flame of success. We must all share in the process of making the flame burn bright as the coaches fan the flame of desire and encourage all members of the team to make the fire bigger and brighter than ever. The passion we all share will make this fire become like a star that all can see as the Star of Davidson!
