Regional Recap: With high winds and the most competitive field every assembled for the regional meet,
Davidson survived to fight another day. Every team was running hard and there were only four spots to
qualify to National Trails Raceway. Davidson was only partway in the meet. The pressure was real but
now we are ready to run up to ability at the state championships. Colin Burdette and Garret Knapik ran
great races to finish 3rd and 4th. Luke Hoover was solid. Ryan Whitney had a good finish and Johnny
McKeown faded the last mile. Adam Hoover and Spencer Schlecht must find the will to fight next week.
This team has a lot of room to improve. As promised, Davidson will have a great week of freshening up
which most of the teams in the state have already done. We must be confident and know that our best race
is yet to come. In 2011 Davidson was third at regionals and went on to place fourth at the state championships.
Carmel did not appear to have a chance after their poor district and regional performances but went on to
become state champions. In the movie “Miracle”, team USA fought hard and believed on that one day when
it mattered most. Davidson is ready and “On a Mission”.
